IET Malta Network

The IET Malta Network is part of the Malta Group of Professional Engineering Institutions (MGPEI) which was formed in the early 1960's. This is a collaborative group consisting of members from:

The aims of the MGPEI (following those of the three parent institutions) are:

  • To promote the advancement of engineering and to facilitate the exchange of information and ideas.
  • To provide a range of services to assist members in developing their career and to play their full part in contributing to society.
  • To raise the standing and visibility of the profession and to maintain a high standard of professional conduct.

We organise lectures, visits and other activities for the interest of our members, to help continuing professional development and to encourage communication between the members of the three parent institutions. The activities of the MGPEI are funded by the parent institutions as well as through fund raising efforts. All funds go towards the organisation of our activities and we submit audited accounts and financial statements to the parent institutions every year for control purposes.

Get involved

The MGPEI welcomes offers of lectures from individuals, academia and business. Whilst local engineers provide most of our presentations, we also use the services of engineers and technicians who are visiting Malta on business. We are happy to cooperate with commercial organisations that wish to present their engineering products to practicing engineers and architects as this contributes to our members' continuing professional development.

All our committee members work on a purely voluntary basis for the benefit of their colleagues and are not paid in any way for the service they give to the MGPEI. We are currently looking for speakers and individuals to help us organise and promote our activities. If you think you might be interested, please contact David Abela for further information.
